The Great War Exhibition is located in Wellington’s historic Dominion Museum Building situated within the beautiful Pukeahu National War Memorial Park, adjacent to the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior and the National War Memorial.
Getting here by car or chartered bus
Public car parking is available at the front of the Dominion Museum Building. Accessible parking bays are also available right outside the building. Entry by car is via Tory/Tasman Street through Pukeahu National War Memorial Park. Exit is via Taranaki Street.
Pay and display parking operates between 9 am and 6 pm daily for a fee of $4 per hour. Parking cannot be reserved in advance. Car parking is monitored by CarePark and any parking fines incurred must be disputed directly with CarePark.
There is a bus loading area for pick up and drop off only. Buses cannot park in this area. Closest public bus parking available is opposite Mt Cook School along Tory Street.
Getting here by bus
Leaving from Wellington Station, GO Wellington buses – numbers 10 and 11 will stop at bus stop no. 6913 on Taranaki Street. Walk through Pukeahu National War Memorial Park and up the hill, where the National War Memorial stands, to The Great War Exhibition.
Coming from the southern suburbs GO Wellington buses – numbers 10, 11, 18, 21, and 47 will stop at bus stop no. 7912 on Taranaki/Abel Smith Street. Walk through Pukeahu National War Memorial Park and up the hill, where the National War Memorial stands, to The Great War Exhibition. It is best to inform your bus driver of your destination when you board.
